Touch Me
Tangible media interface is an essential part of the interactive are scene. I presented a real-time experimental tangible media project using water. The device consists of an Arduino to detect a hand touching water and an iSight to track a hand. The motion tracking data makes interesting sound like a Theremin through a sound generation program. Visual interaction is also showed. Audiences can experience experimental sound and feel interested in this project.
The following is a summary of sound generation. First, when touching water with an audience’s hand, a motion detector gathers 2D data and sends it to computer. Then computer analyze the data. X-axis data will be a frequency of sound and Y-axis data will be a pitch of sound. Therefore, audiences will play this device easily. The sound will vary from person to person. It was written in Max/MSP/Jitter.
