Bio
Seokhwan is an artist using video, sound, and electronics such as physical computing, robotic technologies and computer programming. He is also an electrical engineer. Very interested in art while an electrical engineering major at Myongji University in Korea, currently he is pursuing an MFA in media arts production at the University at Buffalo, SUNY.
His research focuses on the cognition of humans, machines and virtual things. For example, when humans recognize another humans, the humans try to communicate and socialize mutually. According to differences in cognition of objects, the objects’ group is continuously changing like a kaleidoscope. Therefore, he would like to show mediated messages among the objects and results depending on cognition of the objects in the aesthetic aspect.
Currently he is developing iPhone apps and hacking electric gadgets such as mobile phones, Nintendo DS and Roomba. Moreover, he is creating a virtual world of artificial emotional creatures that will be his thesis project at the University at Buffalo, SUNY.
